Ascension Sunday Worship & Picnic

Ascension Sunday Worship & Picnic

Come fly a kite with us! - Sunday, June 1, 2025

Thanks for joining us as we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Jesus rose from the grave on Easter Sunday, and then he spent 40 days proving that he is alive.  On the Ascension, Jesus ascended into heaven, and now he reigns on high as the King of all nations.  Following the service, we fly kites and remember what it was like for the disciples to watch Jesus ascend.

***No Rest Stop program today, but there will be nursery following the children's message.***

Scripture Passage

Mark 1:35-45

Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place

35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy

40 A man with leprosy[a] came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

41 Jesus was indignant.[b] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.

43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere

The Ascension

Phil Wickham

Verse 1

This is the start of something amazing
A moment when heaven touches earth
Here in our hearts Lord we are waiting
For something that's far beyond
What we have seen or heard

Chorus

Let us start the ascension let's begin the climb
Up this holy mountain where Your glory shines
Further up further in just to
Be with You again
Let us start (the ascension)

Verse 2

We're fixing our eyes on glory and fire
Your name is branded on our hearts
You are the source of all we desire
Nothing can hold us back
We're running to where You are

Come As You Are

Crowder

Verse 1

Come out of sadness from wherever you've been
Come broken-hearted let rescue begin
Come find your mercy O sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal

Chorus

(So) Lay down your burdens lay down your shame
All who are broken lift up your face
O wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt lay down your heart
Come as you are

Verse 2

There's hope for the hopeless
And all those who've strayed
Come sit at the table come taste the grace
There's rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't cure

Bridge

Come as you are
Fall in His arms
Come as you are

Verse 3

There's joy for the morning O sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal

Ending

Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are

Salvation is Here

by Joel Houston

Verse 1

God above all the world in motion
God above all my hopes and fears
And I don't care
What the world throws at me now
I'm gonna be alright

Verse 2

Hear the sound of the generations
Making loud their freedom song
All in all that the world
Would know Your name
We're gonna be alright

Chorus

'Cause I know my God saved the day
And I know His word never fails
And I know my God made a way for me
(Salvation is here)
(It's gonna be alright)

Bridge 1

Salvation is here
Salvation is here and He lives in me
Salvation is here
Salvation that died just to set me free
Salvation is here
Salvation is here and He lives in me
Salvation is here
'Cause You are alive and You live in me

Bridge 2

Salvation is here
Salvation is here and He lives in me
Salvation is here
'Cause You are alive and You live in me
(Salvation is here)

Give Me Jesus (refrain)
